Oier Cáceres
Oier is a young percussionist of Basque origin, born in 2004. He is currently based in Amsterdam, where, since 2022, has been studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with musicians of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Het Ballet Orkest and renowned soloists.
At the early age of 4, he began attending music and movement classes at the municipal music school of San Sebastián, his hometown, where four years later, he started studying percussion. At the age of 11, he decided to continue his studies at the Francisco Escudero Professional Conservatory, encouraged by his future teacher, Jorge Pacheco. There, he successfully completed the elementary degree in 2017 and the intermediate degree in 2022, both in classical percussion.

Between 2016 and 2021, he was selected six times to be part of the EIO (Basque Country Student Orchestra). In 2018, he won first prize in the B percussion category of the JME (Young Musicians of the Basque Country) competition, and an honorable mention in the A instrumental ensembles category with the percussion group Taupa. In 2021, in the same competition, he won the first prize both in the A percussion category and in the A instrumental ensembles category, once again with Taupa.
As a result of his studies in the Dutch capital, in 2023, he was awarded one of the Yamaha scholarship program grants in the Benelux. In the same year, he was selected to join the EGO (Youth Orchestra of Basque Country) where he still holds the position. He also got chosen as a substitute for the NJO (Nationaal Jeugdorkest) in 2023, position that he held on 2024. In 2025 he got a substitute place in the international Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival orchestra.
